🌟 ACM Scholar Spotlight: Andrea Belen Cretu Toma 🌟

We are excited to feature Andrea Belen Cretu Toma, a fourth-year Computer Engineering student at Universitat Jaume I and recipient of the 2024 ACM-W scholarship.
Andrea shares her inspiring journey into technology — from discovering her love for programming and problem-solving, to overcoming imposter syndrome, and finding community at her very first womENcourage conference. 💻✨
🔹 Her advice to women in computing: “Don’t be afraid! Everyone starts from scratch. With perseverance, you will excel.”
🔹 Current work: Researching AI that can identify facial expressions in photos.
🔹 Biggest takeaway: The power of connecting with women in tech and learning about bias in AI.
Andrea’s story highlights courage, curiosity, and the importance of community. We can’t wait to see her future contributions to technology and society — and we’re especially excited that next year’s womENcourage will be held in her home country, Romania! 🇷🇴
