In this post, we hear from Soundharya Parashuram, a Master’s student in Computer Science and Engineering, who is currently working as an Assistant at the International University of Sarajevo. She shares her reflections on attending the womENcourage conference and the inspiration it sparked for her future in Artificial Intelligence.
Introduction
I’m Soundharya Parashuram, a Master’s student in Computer Science and Engineering, currently working as an Assistant at the International University of Sarajevo. Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the womENcourage conference, and I’m thrilled to share my experience with you.
Engaging with New Ideas
Throughout the program, I actively participated in various sessions covering a diverse range of topics. From career development strategies to fostering diversity and inclusion within the tech industry, each session sparked insightful discussions and offered valuable perspectives on the unique challenges and opportunities women in technology face today.
One session that particularly resonated with me was titled “Responsible Artificial Intelligence: Challenges and Solutions.” It opened my eyes to think more broadly about AI—its potential, its pitfalls, and the importance of ethical frameworks as we move forward in this field.
Beyond the sessions, womENcourage offered a supportive and encouraging environment for networking with other women in computing. Being surrounded by such a passionate and driven community was truly inspiring. It was a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas, share experiences, and build connections that will undoubtedly benefit me throughout my career journey.
Growing Through Challenges
As I continue my studies, my passion for Artificial Intelligence keeps growing. The challenges I’ve encountered—such as balancing coursework with research and assistantship duties—have taught me the importance of managing multiple responsibilities in academia.
Fortunately, the support of mentors, colleagues, and communities like womENcourage has been instrumental in pushing me forward. They’ve helped me develop the skills and resilience necessary to grow as both a student and a future professional in tech.
Looking Ahead
The future of technology holds immense potential for women to make significant contributions. By actively fostering inclusion, mentorship, and collaboration, we can create a more diverse and innovative tech landscape.
Attending womENcourage was a truly transformative experience. It reignited my passion for technology and empowered me to pursue excellence in both my academic and professional endeavors. The knowledge I gained, the connections I made, and the overall supportive atmosphere instilled in me a renewed confidence and motivation to keep striving toward my goals.
