Workshops and Tutorials – Hands-On Learning for Tomorrow’s Challenges

15 Expert-Led Sessions Covering the Most Critical Topics in Tech Education
Our comprehensive workshop program delivers practical skills and actionable insights across four key areas that are reshaping the future of technology and education:
AI in Education Revolution
Master the responsible integration of Generative AI in teaching and learning through workshops on digital pedagogy, explainable AI systems, and ethical GenAI use in computer science education. Learn to harness AI as a catalyst for learning rather than a crutch.
Inclusion & Equity in Computing
Transform your approach to diversity through structural understanding of gender in computing, co-design methodologies for inclusive software development, and practical assessment tools for DEI in universities—directly supporting EU Research Area objectives.
Cutting-Edge Applications
Get hands-on experience with social robots in classrooms, knowledge graphs for drug discovery, human-computer interaction design thinking, and the innovative GenieAI digital companion for academic inclusion.
Responsible Technology
Address critical challenges in privacy and security, environmental sustainability in ML systems, and building technology for civic impact and social good.
Why These Workshops Matter:
- Immediate Application: Take home practical tools and methodologies you can implement right away
- Expert Guidance: Learn from leading researchers and practitioners across Europe and beyond
- Collaborative Learning: Engage in participatory discussions and co-creation activities
- Future-Ready Skills: Master emerging technologies and methodologies shaping the next decade
Each workshop combines theoretical foundations with hands-on practice, ensuring you leave with both understanding and actionable skills. Perfect for educators, researchers, practitioners, and anyone committed to advancing inclusive, ethical, and impactful technology education.

Introducing the ACM-W Tel Aviv Chapter

Empowering Women. Advancing Computing.
We’re excited to introduce the ACM-W Tel Aviv Chapter — a bold initiative committed to creating equal opportunities for women in computing
While women hold only ~36% of high-tech roles—and just 10% of startup CEO positions—we’re here to change that. With a 130% increase in women in R&D over the past decade, the momentum is building. We aim to accelerate it.
Our mission:
To bridge academia and industry, catalyze innovation, and build a vibrant, inclusive ecosystem that supports women in tech from the classroom to the boardroom.
What we do:
- Flagship events & strategic brainstorms
- AI & professional development workshops
- Mentoring circles & research collaborations
- Awards & community-driven projects
Led by trailblazers:
Dr. Mor Friebroon-Yesharim (Chair) and Dr. Liat Nakar (Co-Chair)—both renowned computer science education researchers—are spearheading efforts to shape the tech future with inclusion at its core.

Blog series – ACM-W Scholarship Spotlights
Welcome to ACM Scholar Spotlights, a series where we shine a light on the inspiring paths of students in computing who received the 2024 ACM-W scholarship. Through their own words, we hear how they found their place in tech, what motivates them, and how they’re making an impact. These stories reflect not only technical achievement, but also courage, curiosity, and community.

Vikensa Grabocka, a bachelor student at the University of New York Tirana in Albania, whose passion for mathematics and problem-solving is driving her journey in computer science and creating meaningful connections in the tech community.
Simona Lo Conte, a 22-year-old Master’s student in Computer Science specializing in Data Science and Machine Learning, whose fascination with the limitations of computers and human brain operations is driving her mission to bridge the gender gap in technology.
Pedro Angélico, a master’s student in Informatics and Computing Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, whose fascination with technology’s diverse applications is driving his mission to use technology for social good and support inclusivity in the tech community.
Patrícia Szabó, a Ph.D. student at the University of Pannonia in Veszprém, Hungary, whose passion for creating technology solutions that improve lives is driving her work in healthcare applications and her commitment to empowering the next generation of women in tech.

ACM Awards and Advanced Grades of Membership Deadlines
Each year ACM recognizes outstanding achievements of its members through awards that cover a spectrum of professional and technological areas and different stages of professional development.
To learn more about awards, we recommend the article by the ACM President Cherri M. Pancake, who dispels some common myths about ACM Awards and Honors in the Communications of the ACM, August 2019. One of the myths is that the ACM Awards never honour people working outside North America. Prof. Pancake writes that even though nothing would make ACM committees happier than to recognise the achievements of people from around the globe, there are very few nominations.
